Do You Mosey?

I love my 15 pound, rescued, fur baby, Marley, to pieces!  She is smart, patient, and adorably cute.  She has one favorite toy, her “baby”, who used to be a unicorn.  Now baby is well worn, but still must be right by her side most of the time.  Marley usually does not bark unless she wants me to hurry and answer the doorbell.  She loves everyone who comes to visit; and she gets into her crate automatically when she sees me getting ready to leave.  She even sleeps-in with me and doesn’t rush me to get her outside in the mornings.  What more could I ask?

Well, to be honest, Marley moseys!  I’m the one who wants to get outside, take care of business, and get back inside – especially if it is pouring down rain or freezing cold or the snow is blowing!  But not Marley!  Marley is in NO HURRY, no matter the weather or the temperature!  She likes to stop and sniff the air or sniff under the bushes or rocks.  Marley likes to “mosey”.  She will take three or four steps and stop and check her surroundings.  She likes to watch the passers-by as they walk until they are out of sight. Marley likes to stop and gaze into the neighbor’s yard with the hope of seeing the children who live there.  She likes to stop and longingly look toward her favorite, neighbor’s yard with the hope of seeing him riding on his golf cart.  I admit that this behavior tends to frustrate me, but there is no hurrying her unless I pick her up and carry her back inside!

I will tell you there are days when I mosey, too, and I think that is ok once in awhile.  However, I try not to make it a habit.  I believe that as Christians we are called to be intentional and decisive with our actions.  Matthew 9:37, 38, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field”.  Galatians 6:9, 10, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up,  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers”.  Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”.  In other words, we have work to do and time is running out.  I don’t think that the Lord becomes frustrated or impatient with us, as I sometimes am with Marley, but He has called us to be obedient.  He loves each of us and has given us our own specific talents.  I am certain God delights to see us serving Him faithfully and finds great pleasure in our obedience to Him.  I sure don’t want to stand before the Lord one day and explain why I didn’t use my time wisely.  There is so little time to “mosey” and so much to be done for God!  May we all resolve to be faithful until the Lord returns!

Good words. I need to be more slow and observant. Stop and take a breath. Smell a rose. Look in my fellow humans eyes. Hear their heart. Thanks for helping me in a needed area.

I have a ‘ mosier’, too. And since he is that makes me one. I look at the sky, trees, flowers, etc. and thank God for such a beautiful world. Thank you for your sweet and special words.
